Eat your Greens

Why is it important to eat your greens? What kind of greens should you eat? How do you eat so many greens in a day? What is fiber?

Eating greens can help you live a better life. Most people don't eat greens because they don't like the taste but the benefits outweigh the taste. Why is it important to eat your greens, because it helps your bowels move. Eww, I know that is so gross but also so true. The fiber in the greens helps you to go. What is fiber? Fiber is also known as roughage. This is food your body doesn't digest. It is a carbohydrate that although not necessarily needed to survive, it is needed to keep your bowels moving. Now you're thinking why would I want to eat food my body doesn't digest? These foods help you poo. Sometimes your stomach hurts and no matter how many times you go. It doesn't feel better. Roughage/ fiber is plant-based food. Like grains, fruit, and some vegetables. These foods are often consumed to help you move your bowels. I know this is a gross conversation, but some conversations need to be had. A lot of stomach problems can be solved by eating better. The vitamins and minerals in roughage helps you go.

Now, what kinds of fiber should you eat. All of them. Each different fruit, vegetable, or grain helps you in a different way. Fruits also provide a wide range of health-boosting antioxidants, including flavonoids. Antioxidants are substances that slow cell damage. Although our body naturally produces antioxidants but not enough so we use fruit to boost our antioxidants. What are flavonoids?? Flavonoids are a group of phytonutrients, found in plants. Mostly fruits and vegetables, they are what are responsible for the bright color. Now although there are many antioxidants in fruits and vegetables, Most of them help our body digest the foods we eat. Most of them are considered to be fiber.

Everyone needs fiber in their life. It is the best way to digest foods that our body doesn't break down. This is also the reason we shouldn't eat too much fast food, with no nutrients (fiber). Have you ever ate fast food for a couple of days and you just feel awful? Your body doesn't know to process the preservatives. They just sit in your intestines and turn into fat. Since your body isn't made to digest fast food, it just sits there. Not only that, it makes you sluggish.
